How to begin fall better than with an auction. It’s a bit late now to talk about today’s Christie’s Auction, however there will be an auction on the 20th at Sotheby’s New York, where you will be able to see a rather impressive 2,59ct Fancy Intense Blue Diamond and a gorgeous Tutti Frutti Cartier Bracelet (See the e-catalog).
Don’t ask me why but lately the only thing that I seem to able to think of is gold! So a few pieces caught my attention, not because they are exceptionally exceptional but rather because I’d love to wear them this fall. What do you think? Will this fall be golden?

On the 17th of March, Sotheby’s will hold an auction in its London quarters. I had a quick look at the e-catalog and in general the lots are very nice but not particularly extraordinary. Here are neither the most expensive, nor the most impressive but my favorite all the same.
Lot 152: A beautiful Opal and Diamond Necklace. Lot 155: A Gold and Coral hinged Bangle by Phillips of Cockspur Street, mid 19th century. There were a lot of other beautiful jewels, for instance an amazing sapphire and diamond ring by Tillander (lot 106) and three lovely Garnet and Diamond Hair Combs from the late 19th century (lot 159), you can see them in the e-catalog

Twenty three years ago Sotheby’s celebrated the fantastic Jewelry collection of the Duchess and Duke of Windsor during a historical auction at the Hotel Beau Rivage in Geneva. On the 30th of November, this time in London, 20 pieces of the same collection will reappear for an exceptional jewelry sale. Here are my favorite:
The Onyx and Diamond Panther Bracelet, Cartier, Paris, 1952
Jewels like this Gem-Set and Diamond Cross Bracelet made by Cartier (1934-1944), are the reason why jewelry will never stop amazing me. Each of the eight crosses are inscribed to remind and symbolize important events in Wallis Simpson & Edward VIII life together. And what a life those two had! One way or another we are all in search for beauty, but it is because jewelry always has history and meaning that we give it such importance. Because it is a symbol!

If I were in New York today and had a few dollars to spend, I would go to Sotheby’s and bid at the Important Jewels auction. I had a quick look at the e-catalog and here’s what caught my interest:
A pair of 18 karat white gold and diamond hoop earrings, an 18 karat gold and bakelite Cartier clip watch, made in France circa 1935 and platinum, diamond and onyx Tiffany & Co ring circa 1925. Here’s a link to the Sotheby’s e-catalog for those who want to have a look!
